Jessica's journey begins in the vibrant landscapes of the Dominican Republic, where she was born and nurtured during her formative years. Embracing a passion for the arts, she embarked on a transformative chapter in Italy, immersing herself in the realms of theatre and cinema in Turin.
Her quest for knowledge led her to the bustling streets of London in 2011, where she honed her skills and attained professional certification as a Pattern Maker at the esteemed Kensington and Chelsea College in 2013. With a versatile background that traverses the realms of fashion, costume theatre, and performing arts, Jessica's creative spirit knows no bounds.
Throughout her career, she has seamlessly blended her Caribbean heritage with the rich tapestry of Mediterranean cultural influences, infusing her work with depth and authenticity. As a freelance artist, she has collaborated with prestigious dance companies, graced the stages of renowned West End theatres, and contributed her talents to immersive theatrical experiences and screen projects.
Her designs have graced performances choreographed by luminaries such as Sophie Laplane, Ashley Page, Joseph Tonga, and the Olivier Award-winning choreographer, Mthuthuzeli November, culminating in the acclaimed production "NINA: BY WHATEVER MEANS."
Jessica's artistry goes far beyond traditional stagecraft. The multi-award-winning designer received the 2022 Black British Theatre Award for Costume Design Recognition for her remarkable work on "SAY IT LOUD," a production by Cassa Pancho MBE, the founder and director of Ballet Black, celebrating the company's 20th anniversary. More recently, at the 2024 Black British Theatre Awards, she was honoured with the Theatre Design Award.
In her most recent endeavour, she lent her creative vision to the immersive theatrical spectacle "RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE" by Rematch Live, reimagining the historic boxing match between the iconic Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Her designs have graced illustrious stages including the Barbican Theatre, Sadler's Wells, and the Linbury Theatre.
She continues to collaborate with Ballet Black, and their upcoming project will feature her once again designing for Cassa Pancho, in a ballet inspired by the acclaimed thriller novel by Nigerian Writer Oyinkan Braithwaite "My Sister, the Serial Killer". The premiere will be at the Hackney Empire in March 2025.
Currently, Jessica channels her boundless creativity as a full-time freelancer, lending her talents to the realms of fashion , dance, theatre, and television, enriched by the inspirations drawn from her passion for analogue photography and street style.
